I am always looking for cute stylish t-shirts for Adeline that are also affordable. That is why I was so excited when I found Melondot on Etsy. Melondot is an Etsy shop which features infant and children’s t-shirts with hand sewn appliqués in fun shapes and colors. You can choose from many different designs such as crabs, rocket ships and skulls just to name a few. According to Sarah, a stay at home mom of two little ones and owner of Melondot, she ”truly loves making something unique and meaningful for little ones so if you have an idea that you would like developed onto a shirt for a special someone please don’t hesitate to ask.”
We were lucky enough to get to choose a shirt to review. It was very hard to decide on which one we liked the most and finally chose the “heading to the beach” t-shirt which featured an appliquéd car, surfboards, and luggage in fun bright colors and prints on a girl’s white tee. This tee lists at a very reasonable price of $22. It arrived just in time for our trip to FL and was the perfect addition to Adeline’s warm weather wardrobe. The t-shirt was a simple girls Circo (Target’s brand) white tee and the appliqué design was awesome and as bright as it was in the pictures. The very professional look of it reminded me of something I might purchase from a higher end store. The appliqué has stood up well to many washings and rough play sessions. 1) What do you love about your mom?
My mom and I are so alike. Especially as a teen you might think this is scary but, we like the same things, we act the same way at times, and the same things come out of both of our mouths. She taught me to listen to my own intuition. Every child is different and so is every mother. But I guess the one thing we all want is the best for our children and that is what I am trying to give them. To me the best thing is happiness, and that is the one thing my mum taught me.
2) What do you love about being a mom?
I could not imagine life any other way. I love being the one they are so excited to see in the morning, the one they run to to mend boo-boos, the one they can’t seem to get enough of because I can’t get enough of them!
3) What or who inspired you to start your own business?
Honestly, it is hard to see this as a business even though that “is what it is.” My kids give me lots of information, my friends whom I always want the best for; art and nature. My daughter is constantly asking “you can make that for me, too.”
4) What advice do you have for women who are afraid to start their own ventures?
Once you have a plan, you need to be sure that you are doing it for yourself first. If you are not passionate about it, eventually it will fall to the side and other things in life will take over. This business is my relaxation and my release.
