Review & Giveaway: Mobu Herbals Kava Calm Balm

Being a mom, I am always looking for ways to maintain my families health by shopping organic (with reusable bags of course) and avoiding processed foods. So it seems only “natural” to try to decrease the amounts of chemicals that we put in our bodies with over the counter medicines. While I was in search of herbal sleep aids for myself I came across Mobu Herbals and was immediately impressed.

Mobu Herbals formulations were created by Janell Hendricks-Cole, Naturopathic Doctor and Master Herbalist. MOBU Stands for Medicinal Organic Botanicals Unite. I was sent a Kava Calm Balm to try out. The balms retail for $16.95 which is really reasonable for the amount that you receive. It is said to contain “quieting herbs” that help with stress anxiety and restful sleep.  Sounds perfect. The Kava Calm Balm is a 2 oz tin of balm that consists of a blend of catnip, skullcap, kava kava, valerian and a couple of more herbs. It is not the most pleasant smell due to the valerian but once it is applied the smell seems to fade away.  I started rubbing it on my wrists and the back of neck at bedtime and it truly seemed to help me relax and get to sleep. I have also been using it when I am feeling stressed.  My 15 year old daughter gets a little anxious about things sometimes and so she has also started using the Kava Calm Balm also.  Mobu Herbals also included a Fresh Mint Trio (breath freshening, awakening) Lip Balm with my Kava Calm Balm. The lip balm retails for $2.99. It has become one of my favorite lip balms (Adeline declared it too spicy) minty and ultra moisturizing.

Lena of Mobu Herbals answered a couple of questions for us:

1) What do you love about your mom?

My Mom is so loving and kind. She makes everyone feel special and loved. Even people she just meets know she is a kind and loving person. My Mom is my best friend and if I can be half the person she is I will not even measure up to her.

2) What do you love about being a mom?

What I love most about being a mom is my beautiful children can always make me smile. They always tell me they love me. I love to watch them play in sports and be their biggest fan.

3) What or who inspired you to start your own business?

My friend Janell is actually the business owner. We both work together to make the products she came up with.  So as office manager she inspires me to keep the ball rolling so to speak!

4) What advice do you have for women who are afraid to start their own ventures?

Any thing is possible and anyone can do anything if they set their mind to it!  Even when things get hard, stick to you guns and you can make anything happen.
