We have a 9 year old granddaughter who made a difference by helping the children, of the flood victims of Nashville, TN this last Spring. She donated a very big portion of her toys to those children, who had lost everything that they had owned. My daughter who has ADD struggles in social situations because of her impulse control issues. But for some reason when it comes to the special needs kids at her school she is totally in her element. She has such a big heart and compassion for these students. She can often be found with her arm around an autistic student explaining how to do the next task. Her teachers have told me what a big help she is with these students.

I’d love to surprise my daughter with one of these American Girl Dolls. My daughter is 8 years old and is such a wonderful, helpful and affectionate person. Over the past year, I needed to have some major leg surgeries and have been limited in being able to go up and downstairs and doing housework. My daughter has been such a tremendous help. She’ll help do some of the cleaning, run up and down the stairs for me and help out with her younger siblings. My husband works a full & part time job and isn’t home often to help. I don’t know what I would have done over the past year if it wasn’t for my daughters help. She’s so proud of being able to help out and never complains.

Three years ago, my son and his wife became part of the inaugural committeed that started Walk Now for Autism in our city. As a result, our whole circle of family and friends have become involved. In two years, they have raised over $500,000 for Autism research. Our next Walk is in early October! Can’t wait. Their daughter “C” has walked every year. She invites her friends to walk with us..so that now we have over 75 people on C’s Crusaders! This is such a great way to learn about family giving. We can make a difference in our children’s lives.

I nominate my daughter, Cady. She deserves this as a late birthday gift because she has to put up with the meanest mother in the world on a daily basis. I make her keep her room clean, eat veggies, and brush her teeth. A child that has to go through that torture regularly desrves to win
I would love to nominate my niece , She is an amazing little girl. She is unfortunately in foster care right now and still tries to stay positive very tough thing to do in her situation, but she recently volunteered at summer school to help with putting away the books in the library from the summer reading program. She loves to read. She does not have any dolls or many toys, so I believe this would be a comfort to her, since she has no family near right now. I am 3,000 miles away from her but talk to her almost every night on the phone.

I have a few nieces and each one in their own right makes what they do a special joy.
One niece though was adopted in China and she is the daughter of my sister who had stage 4 cancer. My sister is almost 9 yrs out from a bone marrow transplant but her daughter is now 7 and is aware of the fact that she was a very wanted little girl. She makes and extra effort to help when my sister isn’t feeling up to par (which is less and less). She will help tend to her cousins and explain things and read to the younger cousins.
I would love for my little girl to win. She has begun to show such compassion for those in need. We donate our books, toys, and clothes. She is in Girl Scouts now and is asiisting with helping the city we live in as well.

I know a little girl, shes 5yrs old. Her mommy and daddy recently split and divorced. This girly was always super helpful to her mom, helping with her little brother. She would help get ready for dinner, and clean, and grocery shop(mom telling her go grab this, something on the same isle just a foot or two away from mom). I nominate my niece, who helps her mom recycle and she helps her church whenever they have a benefit. She is always helping and she is only 7 years old. she would love this doll.

She did this last year at school. She defended one of the special needs students who had neither the ability to speak up or walk away from the situation. Her actions have not made her a popular girl, and yet she still treats everyone as they deserve to be treated. She’s my hero.

I would like to nominate my 8 year old daughter. She is a beautiful, amazing girl who will help anyone who is in need of help. My husband and I are both active duty military members and we have to go away for deployments, training, etc quite often. So when other kids’ parents are deployed, etc, she knows what they are feeling, etc and will be there to listen to their worries/concerns or just there to give them a hug. She is also very into recycling and will pick up trash whenever she sees it on the ground. She also does very well in school and will help her little sister out whenever she needs it. There’s this little girl I know that I used to babysit for. She was so quiet and shy and sooo sweet. She would help any of her friends with anything. She’s smart too, and she reads American Girl books. I think she would love this doll. Othat than that, I don’t really know any little girls. Sorry. =[ But I know that I would love to collect it, as it reminds me of my childhood. <3

Yes my granddaughter makes a difference wherever she goes. Her big brown eyes and dimples show her incredible love of life. She is one of the most enthusiastic peole I’ve ever know. She can talkto anyone and makes even the shyest ,quitest kids at school feel most welcome. She lights up a room and she is almost 5 years old. Her incredible sense of humor has even gotten kids with special needs laughing.

My granddaughter’s other grandmother is Hispanic so she chose Josephina. MANDATORY ENTRY: The little girl who deserves this American Doll is someone who is always willing to stay after school an hour a day to help her teacher clean up the classroom, prepare for the next day, and help other teachers who need it. This little girl is always willing to help those who need. She also helped dish food last Thanksgiving at her local church for the less fortunate. What a giver, huh?
This little girl is most deservant because she goes out of her way to make others happy and that is very important!

My six year old daughter makes a difference in many lives – especially mine. She is always showing how much she cares. She is a big helper around the house and with her baby brother. She is active with Girl Scouts where she participates in fundraisers, supports the troops and participates within our community.

My younger daughter has Asperger’s. She is so bright but struggles to understand social interactions. One thing she does very well is work and play with younger children and children with disabilities. She welcomes them with friendship, warmth and understanding. She has a very mature understanding that she struggles with emotional problems and tries to communicate that to adults. When she does have an episode she often cries at how she doesn’t know how she should behave or control herself. We all learn from her every day how easy it is to overlook the simply day to day tasks of living.

My daughter has been a continual help at home and in the comunity. Even at her age she has compassion for others and is always willing to help people out. She will often stop and help people without prompting, such as helping someone in the store pick up something they dropped. She helps with many chores, even at a young age. And it is amazing to see her make decisions, not to benefit only herself, but keeping the feelings and wants of others in mind. The cutest thing is how much she takes care of her younger sister. For her birthday, she received two Zhu Zhu Hamsters (different styles) and automatically, without thinking about it, she hands one to her sister and says “this one is for you!” She is constantly sharing with others around her. She has compassion for animals and a desire to help the environment. I am proud of the way she is growing up and look forward to watching her help many others as the years progress!

I know a little 6 year old girl who is a huge help at home to her mom and two younger sisters. Even though she’s not that old yet she is always willing to take on the task of helping with the younger kids and around the house with chores. I’d love to nominate my daughter. She has been an active Girl Scout for six years (since she was a Daisy), and her favorite activities center on service projects benefiting the community and people in need. She has helped with canned food drives, planting trees, planting flowers, collecting items for the pediatric ward at the hospital, and many more wonderful acts of service.

I’d nominate my niece. She’s got a heart of gold! She volunteers at the animal shelter, runs a pet sitting service and plays flute in band. She also organized a dance last year and all the money collected went to the Make a Wish Foundation. She never asks for anything for herself…I’d love to be able to give her this! I would nominate my daughter, Abbie. She is always finding a way to be a good helper. She works in our church’s nursery, does extra chores without being asked, never complains when she is told that we don’t have the extra money for something, and is always making crafts/food for those around her.

A child that I would nominate is my daughter, Elizabeth. Not only is she a remarkable daughter, but she lives to serve others. She loves serving at church and helping where she can and her passion does seem to be entertaining others. She loves to sing and dance for people. She is always one to give hugs and support when you need it. I’m very blessed to be her mommy.

I nominate my daughter. She is 6 years old. Very caring and giving. Is always helping those younger than her. Reading stories to young children in her after school program. She is adopted, and is involved in foster/adopt group with us. And likes to big a big sister mentor for kids she meets that are new to the foster system.
My neighbors daughter has been without since her parents have minimal income. Their house has been in foreclosure, but they try to do the best they can for her. I would love to give her something to remind her she is a little girl.
I know a little girl who has an autistic brother. She watches what her parents and therapists do with him , like using pec cards and explaining things that are going to happen, and she does those things and tries to help him.

My neice is so special. She is five years old and acts as a peer in a peer model classroom. Her classroom is 1/2 peers and 1/2 special ED students. She sees everyone as equals and is always helping out others and she is very selfless.

I have a third grader who has organized cookie sales and other fundraisers at her school to help raise $ for a non-profit group that gives portable dvd players to kids who are diagnosed with cancer since they have alot of time they are just sitting getting treatments.

I would like to nominate my 6 year old daughter, Rachel. Rachel is a sweet little girl who has a tender heart. She can’t stand to see someone hurting or suffering, especially me. I had an accident 3 years ago which resulted in a nerve disorder that has made me unable to walk and keeps me in pain 24/7/365. Rachel is always beside me to help in any way she can. She holds doors for me so I can maneuver in my wheelchair. She picks up things I have droppes, gets the mail for me, brings me snacks, takes care of the dog, and the list goes on and on and on. She comforted me when I had to retire from teaching after 14 years. She told me: “Even if you can’t go to your big school and teach the kids there, you can always teach me at home. See, you are still a teacher, my teacher.” What words of wisdom! I am continually amazed at how blessed I am to have this beautiful young lady as my daughter!She is definitely deserving of an American Girl Doll!

my niece is a very giving child. she is 12 years old and she loves to help others. she is active in her church and at her school. she is the most giving person i know.
I’d nominate my daughter, Maya. She’s adopted, so I can brag without taking any credit for biologically inherited traits
. She has such a beautiful spirit! So strong and sweet. Despite being very opinionated and strong willed, she is still kind and giving. Although she’s beautiful outside, it’s her inner beauty that I am so overwhelmed by. I’m very blessed to be chosen as the mother of this amazing child. My youngest daughter is eight years old and a smiling bubble of fun. She is happy and loving and a great help at home. All four of her siblings are quite a bit older than her, so she doesn’t have quite the same growing up with brother and sister experiences that they have had, but she is an amazing “auntie” to her nieces and nephew and makes tons of friends in the neighborhood. She keeps me young and makes me laugh and smile every day. We can’t afford to give her an American Girl doll, but it would be so amazing if she could have one. I would love to win it for her.
