We recently celebrated Strawberry Shortcake’s 30th Birthday! And she still looks adorable. Strawberry Shortcake and her friends have been modernized but in essence Strawberry is still the same, lovable red head. You can catch her on Hub TV. For those of you without this channel, there are plenty of toys and other opportunities for your kids to enjoy Strawberry Shortcake. I recently had the chance to review a Strawberry Shortcake iPhone app and the DVD, Strawberry Shortcake: The Glimmerberry Ball Movie.
Strawberry Shortcake app
First up, the Strawberry Shortcake game for iPhone and iPod touch. This game was created by a company called Soma Creates and can be downloaded through iTunes for a special launch price of 99 cents. The graphics in the Strawberry Shortcake game are super cute! The mission is simple, help Strawberry Shortcake make delicious smoothies! Sort through the falling fruit and get them into the correct blenders. I always try out any apps before handing them over to my daughter. Initially, I thought that this game wouldn’t keep my daughter interested for very long because to me, it seemed very basic. There is one “level” to the game but the pace picks up and challenges the player to move and think fast. What does my daughter think? SHE LOVES IT! I have to admit that I’ve become addicted to the game. The Glimmer Berry is our favorite moment of the game! Make sure you tap it as it races by for what my daughter calls, “A PARTY”! My daughter definitely practices hand eye coordination and matching skills by playing this game. The graphics for this app are clean, bright and the music is catchy. My daughter knows how to charge it up and she has a ball with it.
Second, we watched the The Glimmerberry Ball Movie. This DVD, put out by 20th Century Fox and American Greetings, has a run time of 64 minutes. My daughter squealed with delight when this title arrived. We turned that evening into a family movie night and made some popcorn. As we watched, Strawberry Shortcake and her friends prepare for the First Frost in Berryland. There are three segments that lead up to the Glimmberry Ball. The segments show the Berryland friends exchanging gifts, planning the party and carving frozen Glimmerberries that results in some conflict along the way. Strawberry Shortcake is the levelheaded friend and gets her friends to understand, respect and love each other. The feeling of this DVD is very wholesome. Parents don’t have to worry about any inappropriate language or topics in this title. I have to say that I wasn’t too crazy about some of the character’s voices but I did like the songs. The lyrics had positive messages and didn’t annoy me. I like the way the characters look. I love the round faces and big eyes of the girls. Teagan loved the different characters, especially the chipmunks! I always know when a DVD is a hit with Teagan. She asks to watch it again the second it ends. By the way, Strawberry Shortcake: The Glimmerberry Ball Movie is available now.

I love how agkidzone.com has a variety of activities for the kids to do like the activities section! Video games are a plus especially with some of the retro cartoons getting an upgrade like Care Bears and Strawberry Shortcake. I love Strawberry Shortcake as a child and have fond memories of the show and dolls. My favorite character was the villian the Peculiar Purple Pieman of Porcupine Peak!

Wow! We’ve been totally missing out on that site!!!! HubBub is currently our favorite thing to watch on tv and I love that they’ve got so many games, coloring pages, and activities. My 5 year old is going to have a blast exploring after school today.
I absolutely LOVE Strawberry Shortcake. I’m so happy she’s back… since I had all of the dolls when I was little. I love that Strawberry Shortcake smells EXACTLY the same as she did 30 years ago. My daughter got a doll and after smelling her it brought back so many great childhood memories.

i love the create a snow globe game, how fun! I have always loved Strawberry Shortcake. I had the books when i was little and my entire room was decorated with her! I also love that my daughter now really likes her and always asks to watch “cupcake”

The coolest thing I saw was all of the games to play. I bookmarked it for my daughter, she would love that site!! I love strawberry shortcake not only because shes cute and her hair smells good, but because Iuse to play with her when I was little and its something I can pass on to my daughter.

Wow! I found Holly Hobbie on their site. I forgot all about her and now recall how when my daughter was a little girl she had a Holly Hobbie cardboard house that she loved to play in while her mischievous brother waved his light saber around outside of it pretending that he was Luke from Star Wars. They have a lot of great activities, coloring pages, games, and printable coupons for things like a Holiday Hug – love that one.
I love Strawberry Shortcake because she’s such a fun & caring character & she smells sooo good. I’d love to introduce my granddaughter to one of her Mommy’ favorite toys.

On the site I saw the great coloring pages like Strawberry Shortcake and the Berrykins that my daughter would love. We love Strawberry Shortcake because I grew up loving her and now I can introduce her to my daughter to love as well.
What an awesome site, my kids love it. We like the game Yawp and Danders Twisted time wasters.

So very cool, kids can design and decorate greeting cards on the site and print them out to give. I think that’s so awesome. I wish this kind of stuff had been around when I was a kid.
Also, I loved Strawberry Shortcake when I was a kid. I had this little 4 or 5 inch doll that smelled like strawberries that I kept forever. The smell didn’t ever go away either. Lol.
