Review & Giveaway: Maclaren Beginnings Bath and Body Products

Recently we found out that Maclaren has come out with a new line of bath and body products for mother and baby.  They sent us a box of their Beginning line to review.  The product states it’s been tested for sensitive skin.  Both me and my baby would definitely fall into that category, so I am often reluctant to try new products for fear of developing a rash or some other type of reaction!  Well, here goes nothing…

Overall, I was pleased with the products in this line.  Everything is scented, but not overpowering (except in the case of the harmony cinnamon and clove candle, but I love that scent combo and so didn’t mind).

Here were some of my favorites:

tranquility patchouli and rose candle

I have to admit, I was a bit skeptical when I opened this product.  I am not a fan of patchouli, but thankfully the scent that predominates on this one is the sweetness of the rose.  It comes with a silver lid, and the candle did wonders freshening up the typical baby room smell when with the lid off—no fire required!  I also love the light, gender-neutral green color of this candle, which shows up nicely through the clear glass container.  I tested it out in the living room with the flame and the scent was all the more intensified.  Their inspiring mandarin and pettigrain candle was another favorite.

I was definitely hesitant to try this on my very sensitive-skinned baby.  But, since the company claims it’s great for sensitive skin, I decided to try it.  It definitely smells much better than the other diaper rash cream we use (which works great, but smells like, well—diaper rash cream!).  And I love the smooth consistency, too—much better than the pastey stuff I used to use.  It’s made with Lavendar, German Chamomile, Shea Butter and Aloe.

This talc-free powder is recommended to use over chaffed and irritated skin during diaper changes (or, as Maclaren likes to say-“nappy changes”.)  I alternated using this with the protecting nappy change balm and it has a nice, light scent.  It definitely helped keep Brendan’s skin rash-free!

It’s made with pure organic lavendar, Mandarin and Roman Chamomile essential oils.  This was perfect to keep in the babies room so I could spritz it right after the ‘stinky’ diaper changes.

While they mention this product is for pregnancy and delivery, I was all for trying it out to see if it offered me an “uplifting” experience!  The directions stay to ”spritz and inhale the aromatherapy blend”.  Although I didn’t get the instant lift I was hoping for, I put this as a favorite because it does have a great scent and maybe the effect would have been different had I been pregnant (gotta love those hormones!)

Cocooning massage oil for baby

Made with pure organic Lavendar, Mandarin and Geranium essential oils.  This goes on slick, so make sure your baby is on a towel before you begin!  This has a pleasing, albeit strong, aroma and was also non-irritating to my little guys skin.
