Wreck-It Ralph (John C. Reilly) is the villain in the arcade game Fix-It Feliz, Jr (Jack McBrayer). Ralph wrecks everything while his counter part fixes everything he touches! Ralph desperately wants to be celebrated as the “hero”. He’s told by one of the other game characters, “You’re just the bad guy who wrecks the building!” That’s when Ralph makes a choice to escape his game and go on a journey to prove that he can be the hero! Thus, setting off a serious of unfortunate events that could affect the entire arcade!
I think we can all relate to Ralph in some ways. He’s been doing the same job for 30 years. He just wants to be liked and noticed for his skills or accomplishments. Can you imagine spending the whole time as a bad guy in an eight-bit video game? We all get that itching for a change but what if someone else makes all the choices for you?
Ralph exits the game Fix-It Felix, Jr. and heads to Game Central Station. Movie goers will instantly notice the quality of the graphics improve. Keep your out eye for all of the video game cameos here. It’s sad to see retired Q*bert! Ralph then zips to Hero’s Duty which is a first-person action war game. This is where he meets tough Sgt. Calhoun (Jane Lynch) and accidentally release the deadly Cy-bugs into one of the other video games called Sugar Rush. Sugar Rush is pure eye candy and dreadful for Ralph! Watch for the “O-RE-OS” (one of my favorite moments). I laughed so hard! Ralph befriends Vanellope Von Schweetz (Sara Silverman), the Glitch and his life changes forever. Three game worlds collide and create a wonderful union of characters on the most amazing mission!
Wreck-It Ralph has something for everyone. Kids, their parents, gamers, non-gamers. The computer animation is spectacular, the characters are well-crafted and the story line is fresh and entertaining. Plus, the voice cast is perfect!! I couldn’t imagine anyone else in those roles. Expect a few surprises at the end of the movie! I had no clue who the bad guy really was!
This Disney movie brings back cool memories of vintage game consoles, joy sticks and arcades. Retro games seem so simple compared to modern day games and maybe even boring. But they were so addicting back then. How did I play Pitfall for 5 hours straight??
Wreck-It Ralph is the IT family movie and I highly recommend it. Insert your coins now! – Tee
Here’s what my 5YO daughter thought of the movie.
I loved the whole movie. Sugar Rush was my favorite land in the movie. It was colorful, sparkly and I love candy. I liked the little racer girls. I thought that Vanellope von Treats was not going to win so I cried a little bit. I liked how Wreck-IT Ralph saved Vanellope. They were friends. It was so beautiful. Kids will really like Wreck-It Ralph. – Miss T.
